When speaking about working at a risky work place such as at a drilling rig either in the middle of the deep ocean or on the land, safety must come first. Normally the safety gears are provided for free by the company, which include the work uniform, thick gloves, hard hats, protective glasses, and boots. Specifically speaking about the boots, they normally come with a safety feature on the front side. This feature is usually a piece of pure steel that covers the toes area. Therefore these boots are often called Wolverine boots for the safety ‘toes’. The steel is actually quite thick so that is why the boots are also quite heavy and feel solid. The heavy weight is also due to the thick rubber material for the sole and the leather material for the most part of the boots.
